2nd Arab Climate Outlook Forum

The second ArabCOF was hosted at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority in Cairo, Egypt on 13-14 February 2018 with participants from a wide range of Arab meteorological offices in addition to LAS and WMO partners. Participants discussed seasonal forecasting and its importance to economic sectors, and devoted a central part of the meeting to provide inputs to the seasonal outlook for the spring season March-April-May 2018 (MAM) in the Arab region, as well as validating outlooks of the previous season. The role of other regional mechanisms to provide technical support to ArabCOF with the possibility of coverage of the rest of the entire Arab Region was also emphasized. Prior to finalizing and issuing the seasonal outlook for the spring season as the 2nd ArabCOF consensus statement, discussions were held on the progress of forecasting results in the region, the need for such seasonal products and the ways Arab States can use them, as well as the next steps in this regard.
