Lead Author: United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD)

Description

This Technical Report presents a detailed case study on the assessment of climate change impacts on groundwater resource use and availability in the Eocene aquifer in the State of Palestine. It also includes an analysis of localized impacts of climate change on maize and potato yields. The regional climate projections for the Mashreq Domain used to inform this report were produced by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). This study was carried out as part of a project focused on water and food security under a changing climate context led by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Access to RICCAR assessment findings and associated datasets is being made available on this Regional Knowledge Hub, which is comprised of two open-access components: a website and a data portal. This online platform complements, and builds upon, the findings and processes already presented in the main report and its technical annex, as well as the series of publications that elaborate further on the work being pursued collectively under RICCAR.
