Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Events in Selected Basins in the Arab Region

This Technical Report presents the detailed case study examining the impacts of climate change in terms of extreme events in three river basins in the Arab region, namely the Nahr el Kabir River basin shared between Lebanon and Syrian Arab Republic; the Wadi Diqah River basin in Oman; and the Medjerda River basin shared between Algeria and Tunisia. For each basin, the report provides an assessment of projected changes for extreme temperature and precipitation indices as well as extreme drought events and extreme flood events.

Access to RICCAR assessment findings and associated datasets is being made available on this Regional Knowledge Hub, which is comprised of two open-access components: a website and a data portal. This online platform complements, and builds upon, the findings and processes already presented in the main report and its technical annex, as well as the series of publications that elaborate further on the work being pursued collectively under RICCAR.
